Born in Beijing in 1984, currently lives and works in Beijing.
Graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree.
Graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2015 with a Master's degree.
Creative Inspiration
As a young artist who has garnered significant attention in recent years, her paintings carry surreal undertones, conveying emotions and concepts through dreamlike colors and meticulous forms. She focuses on exploring themes such as private utopias, contemporary female identity, and image production.
Yuan Yuan's depictions on large-scale canvases transform “flowers” into non-objectified and de-objectified entities: blooms standing tall on rigid stems are borne by clusters of leaves unfurling like green wings, unabashedly occupying the entire composition while simultaneously extending outward into the space beyond the frame. They appear to have existed in a state of self-fulfillment, vibrant and self-assured, long before the artist captured and expressed them.
